quirt-deer-foot-1-1.jpg

for those who might not recognize what it is - it's a quirt, a horseman's short whip - made from a deer leg (courtesy of NWTF Longhunter), with bark tan "poppers", a buffalo rawhide grip wrap, buffalo hair "fringe' at both ends of the grip, and a braintan elkhide wrist strap with a bit of beadwork and some tin cone tinklers.

My inspiration - an original that I came across on the net some time back but without the fancies......

The Cumberland style knife is by mi amigo, Mike Mann of Idaho Knifeworks....

Great job, looks very well done.
Thanks for sharing.
Dusty
