I am taking orders in the first of the series I plan using a custom bullet alloy that is legal for hunting in lead ban states.
I have ordered a small quantity of the alloy to cast a limited number of these for trial in patched roundball applications.
The material is around 19 BH in hardness - so a patched ball application would be fine in rifled barrels.
If there is interest in these - please let me know as the cost of these is going to be a lot higher than lead.
Final cost will be close to $38.00 per pound of the cast balls.
The up side is that you get about 28% more balls to the pound than pure lead. The material is less dense than lead - therefore a lighter ball.
That means approximately $60.00 per hundred on .490 (50 cal) and $79.00 per hundred on .535 (54 caliber)
The balls will come with a certificate from CA wildlife dept stating these are certified as approved by the state of California.
Any interest before I start casting?
I intend to offer these in lots of 25 to make them affordable for the hunters that HAVE to use them.
