I recently bought a Pedersoli 1816 Percussion Conversion. I have found some info on the old military buckshot loads using 12 -.31 Cal roundballs with 100 grains of Black Powder. Is this a reasonable load or am I asking for trouble?
Also, If I loose load buckshot... Can I go with 100grs BP, nitro card, buckshot and then a over wad or should I add a cushion wad over the nitro wad?

1 oz of lead is 1 oz of lead. 2 oz of lead is 2oz of lead regardless of whether its one projectile, buck or birdshot. Forget all that nonsense with wads and cushion wads. Get some thin over shot cards. Put three or four over powder and a couple over the shot. You can even cut up a cereal box for cards or use folded lunch bags. Same topic is going on right now in this same forum concerning a Pedersoli 10 gauge. Read those comments because they apply to this situation too.
