Anyone know of Smith & Roberts gun builders? Would have been in the Eastern US I think? Here is a picture of the lock engraving.

A rule of thumb on American made longrifles is that a name on a lock almost always denotes just the lock maker or merchant that supplied the lock only. The actual gun builders name is found on the barrels top flat. Many makers did not sign their work.
