Today was the opening of antlerless season and a buddy and I went out on my property this morning. I took my SMR .45 mainly I had only taken small game with it and wanted to try it on deer. I heard a shot in the direction he was hunting and saw this small button buck running my direction.
It stopped about 40 yards from where I was in my stand and turned around and

looked behind. One double lung shot with the .45 and it made about two circles where it stood and went down.
The shot my buddy made was on a larger doe and I'm assuming this buck was its yearling. It's not a very big deer but will make good table fare.

I like deer that are easy to get in the truck. Nice going!
Yup, grab it by the legs and sling it in the bed. I kept a ham whole to cook whole at the next rendezvous I go to. I'll hang it from a tripod and slow cook it for hours. The last one I did this way I injected it with a butter garlic sauce and it turned out great.

17.00 for the first any deer, 7.00 for antlerless which in my county I can have two. But I also get 5 free above that for the 78 acres I own.
You should invite my dad, me, and our beagles to a hunt, lol. You would have a fit shooting at a buck being chased by our dogs.

And we might all go to jail along with hefty fines. It's not legal in Missouri to hunt deer with dogs. Now however if your beagles hunt rabbits that would work..... ;) .
