while on the subject of single set triggers; I was told that it's very difficult to put one on a ky. style pistol. I'm having one built for me this winter and I'm used to and wanted a set trigger. The builder says he can position non-set trigger further back of the lock so that pull is minimal and a set trigger would not be needed. I'm not a gun smith so Tell me what you think. thanks

I know they can be put on a pistol. Mike Nesbitt was shooting one at our shoot this year. A trigger can be properly hung to give a nice light let off. I was just looking for diagrams for my bench rifle, so I could make my own.

I just built the wife a Kentucky pistol with a Walter Cain single set trigger. I had to cut deep into the grip to accomodate the length of the trigger. Next time I will shorten the tail end so as not to remove so much wood. If you use a nonset trigger by setting it back to shorten the grip length, you may have more travel when pulling the trigger. If you want a nonset trigger, try to get one that has a higher axle pin for better leverage and lighter pull.
Hope this helps.
