Single barrel shotgun

I'm thinking I would like to put together a English shotgun from Pecatonicas kit.
Are there any areas of building a single barrel shotgun that could cause a person to
goof up that would always be a eye sore?
I'm wondering if the lock or lock and barrel set up might be pretty different than the long rifles I'm use to?

Hooked breach, English walnut. I’m assuming a flintlock?
Get some drawings, photos of originals.
Keep it authentic. Don’t bastardize it.
it’ll be a fine gun if you do your part.

You didn't say if you wanted flint or percussion, what time frame and how much build experience you have, there are lots of variables depending on what you want.

I wanted a jug choked turkey gun for my second build; I bought a walnut stock blank from Dunlap, sent it to Fred Miller to have the barrel inletted and the ramrod hole drilled, bought a full-sized set of English Fowler plans from Track along with the necessary iron furniture, a barrel from Colerain and English round face lock from Chambers. Being a rookie, I went slowly on my wood removal from the blank but it came out OK. I had Danny Caywood jug choke the barrel.

One word of caution; under no circumstances should you let Pecatonica inlet your lock, they have a sketchy history with this operation and may get it so far off as to make your gun unworkable. I got one like the latter which I have detailed ad nauseum here in the past.

I've heard guys had problems with Pecatonicas inletting. I've had excellent results with Pecatonicas inletting of the lock,,triggers,,and buttplate.Not once did I have a problem. I have done 9 that I remember. I know it was more but 9 comes to my remembering the guns. Pecatonica has been great to deal with too. Maybe there was a period where they had to make adjustments to there machinery. I'm big fan of those guys and their company. Hope they see this.

A precarve will never get you the look you’re after. Neither will maple or black walnut.
If you’re going to build this, a plank build is the way to go.
According to above posts, you’ve built multiple guns from pre carves, so now it’s time to move on to planks.
You’ll be glad you did.
