I want a really nice looking cannon to show off and shoot. The cannons I build myself are durable, but NOT works of art.

Can you safely shoot projectiles from these pretty "signal cannons" they show online? Like slightly undersized shot like golfballs with a patch...if the bore is big enough?

This may sound stupid, but I was wondering.

that's what I figured, but wanted to hear it from people who know more than I do.

my cannons are over-built, and I sometimes shoot things from them. wanna get something that really looks nice, and has a great report to it.

My 75 cal cannon came with a box of ball bearings that were about a half mm smaller than the bore. I would put powder , a shotgun wad and then a steel ball bearing. I never hit the backstop, but I sure fling them through the woods beyond. You could hear them "thwack " as they bounced from tree

the cannons I build are made from heavy walled bushing material, and the plugs are pin material I beat in and weld up, then weld on a backing plate over that.

never had one blow-up yet.
