I do not use a shot "Snake". However, I do use a Shot bag with an Irish charger head on it (similar to picture below) for dispensing measured amounts of shot. The shot bag is made of very stiff/thick leather molded to a ball shape with a spout in which an Irish shot charger is installed. There are places to tie a strap onto it to hang as you wish. Also, sometimes I just carry it in a pocket on my vest.

I really like this method of carrying shot for my smooth bore.

I use an October Country shot snake (it's attached to the shoulder strap of their possibles bad). Irish head. It's over 10 years old, and has been a great asset. I actually have two now, one for hunting and dog training (#6 shot), and one for target shooting (# 8.5 shot).
