I have finished a .62 caliber smoothbore flintlock pistol that about ready to shoot.
It has a long barrel of 15.5 inches so I hope to do some squirrel hunting in the back woods.
For my shot load (I have 7’s) I will probably start with 35 or 40 grains 2f. Can I use my powder measure to also measure my shot load? I would have equal volume powder and shot, which I think might be fine. Or can I double volume the shot load?
Thanks

In my 66 caliber smooth bore flintlock pistol, I use 35 gr of 2f and about twice as much #6 shot. I know what that much shot looks like in my hand, so I usually just pour out a “purty good amount “ in my palm. With scrap wool or tow wadding it makes a very even and dense pattern to about 10 yards. The barrel on my gun isn’t as long as yours and has no sights so you will probably do a lot better.
