You need to hold it by the stem, taste is like smoking through a metal pipe hawk

Is antler a safe material to use for a pipe ?

Also I can't imagine what it would taste like. Burning antler.
Antler pipes if properly drilled from a quality unpithy antler section make excellent pipes. Takes a little seasoning at first but wears in nicely & last a long time. Go light on scrapping em out for sure.

No no no, It a reproduction pipe. Ive seen them before over at fronteir folk, i got it from a fellow on fb that was selling off some of his gear, its not a pot pipe or a vape watchacallit, its a simple rolled sheet iron pipe that is in the shape of a clay pipe,
Has anyone made a pipe tomahawk from a lathing (roofing) hatchet/hammer?

I agree. A good mixture of hardwood charcoal ( no petrol) and molasses before the 1st bowl will seal and sweeten the bowl. If you ever start getting an off taste, reapply
