I have a reproduction bayonet for my reproduction 1861 Springfield. That being said I was wondering if the bayonets used in the American Civil War had sharpened edges?

No they didn't and I haven't seen one that had been sharpened (yet). They were not used as a slashing weapon and didn't need to be sharpened (including the tip).

Well it was a good nite , except for the realistic dreams about being pinned to the ground with unsharpened steel stakes !🤐

Yea. I get that. I bought the bayonet for no other reason than I thought it would be cool. It is but I can't imagine getting run through with one. Truly horrifying. Oh and pleasant dreams.
