The sear spring on my elderly 45 Tenn Long Rifle would become so weak after a few shots that the hammer would not lock at half or full cock. I cold formed a new spring from a piece of strapping tape like that used to wrap cardboard boxes around refrigerators etc. The material cut easily with a hacksaw and Dremel grinder. I thought the idea was worth passing on. Yes- I did order a book on spring making from TRW.

Good idea --- . I've made patch box springs out of that stuff. The only draw back for me was the lack of spring force for my application :( .

I have made several sear springs from the banding myself mainly as replacements for origonal CVA (now Traditions). They are simple to form cold and hold up well. :idunno:
