Starting my Frontier kit, went to pull the "backing plates" for the wedge (intend to brass black all the brass), looks like one of the screw is missing half its slot :(

Once I get it out, should be an easy fix with a fine hacksaw blade - but how do I "finish" the slot? Right now I'm thinking very fine jewelers file (I have a set)

Update - got all the screws out!
Took one of my needle files and created a but more slot, got it turned enough to grab with pliers. Turns out one of the screws on the other side was a bit challenged in the slot as well. Ruined both of them, but will replace with steel anyway. Looks like putty in the milled slot, will replace that after finishing the stock.

Well, the screws coming out are about all of the good news for now :(

I started dry fitting the lock and trigger assembly. The shoulder for the lock is no where near deep enough to get the two machine screws to engage from the other side - unless I cut a "pit" like the Hawken uses.

Trigger is another issue. If I install the machine screw through the tang perpendicular, it tightens down just fine - but leaves the front part of the trigger plate raised quite a bit :(
