Italian made copy marked: Hopkins & Allen. Suppose this might be from the 1970's (?) Looks like the Navy Arms pistol. When I received it the brass had been darkened with probably Brass Black. But it looks good. The lock is in working order. The bore mics out to about .68 caliber. The bore (and pan) looks like it was only fired 2/3 times. Breech plug is shinny. But there is some very light surface rust near the muzzle from sitting for many years. A cleaning patch goes through smoothly. Only two issues I can see: 1) The vent hole is positioned too low. It would likely still fire, but would be preferable to either plug the hole and re-drill, or file the pan down. 2) With a flint in the jaws, the frizzen will not close all the way, no matter what size flint I try (and I have every size TOTW offers). The horizontal sear for the half-cock engages too soon. This might require just a simple adjustment, or possibly a drop of weld on the sear tip and filed to shape to engage the hammer further backwards. Full cock engages fine. There are three reasons for selling this pistol: 1) I have too many other projects going on now and may never get to this one. 2) The grip is so short, I would have to use my middle finger to fire it. 3) I already have an Indian copy that has been completely re-worked. I don't think this gun will take any serious work to make a reliable shooter. Price is $275.00 including insured USPS shipping to the lower 48. Feel free to ask any questions, and thanks for looking.
