I picked up another CVA 12 ga sxs at a yard sale for $75.00. I already have one my Dad got for me, but thot it would be worth the $ just for parts. The stock is perfect, the locks are good. I took it home and cleaned it, and got about one teaspoon of rust powder out of the right barrel. Left barrel came out good.
Are these barrels junk? Unsafe to shoot?
Thanks-Flint50

Can you tell if there are any deep pits inside the barrel? If not, and it was just surface rust, they should be ok.

If the locks and stock are good the $75.00 price is well worth the investment. The teaspoon of rust powder could be mostly old powder crud.If close examination shows no large or deep pitting of the bores theres a good chance You have another shooter, also the breeches and nipple threads need to be checked.I,d give You a$100.00 for it as is.
