This is my 6th restored and revamped new orleans ace pistol. Using the core parts this little gem was created. The michigan white Tail antler was purchased at Howard City Shoot last year off a trade table. The .31 cal. smooth bore taper and turned end loading barrel was made of 4140 steel , the modified hammer and trigger guard are with decorative wedding bands and fitted a belt loop on the side. The loop is dovetailed to frame and held in with the main pin hammer hole that is now a cap knurled 10-32 screw. Cheers !

What Mr. Boone said! I hesitate to call the original a sow's ear, but you very surely have a silk purse right there. 
Thank you kindly Dave and Bill , yes this did start out as one of those little gambler like pistols. My first one was a piece of manure that always had a loose barrel and lost the ram rod down my pants more than once. I put it away in disgust , than 40 years later I got the idea to re-make these out of those parts. The first thing I did was throw the barrel away as the thread fit is terrible to the point of danger. Some of the barrels to frame fit was as much as .015'' undersize, to the point I had to re thread the frame to a 12mm-.5 (.472 '') from a suppose to be 1/2-20 (.500'') . The .30 cal. barrels were made to fit the thread with H-1 taps , for much tighter seal and sure fit. All were made with the antler found first , as not just every horn works so to speak. Then it is fitted , as this is the hardest part and the easiest to screw up. The last two of these I have made have had the belt loops, as I find this is a much more handy way of carrying these. Enclosed is a original Ace pictured on the top and the other 5 that I have reborn ... Hope you like. Cheers.

Sam, That was the first one I made from my original Ace. That is a hexagon wrench to take off the barrel . I was sort of going with the muff pistol screw off barrel type piece. That was a lot of dinken around to make . The later one are all end loaders.
And to Pietro, yes I like the long slim barrels also , they give the modified frame hexagon nose a lot more appeal. Thank you, Cheers
