Looking thru my available gun parts I found I have a very nice Renegade stock (real nice grain for T/C) and stock hardware. I also have a Renegade .54 flint barrel. The only flint lock I have is a Lyman Great Plains. It looks like it would be a easy fit in the Renegade lock mortise. Has anyone ever done this, and if so are there any pitfalls I should be aware of if I chose to go forward in making this gun?

Awful lot of work to install a mediocre flintlock. Trying to fit a different lock into a different lock mortise can be full of potential traps. I’d hunt around for the right lock. They are out there.
I don't know about a GPR flintlock being mediocre. Mine has served me very well, but I am not as well versed in the finer aspects.of lock performance as some are. I have no idea as to fit of the lock and mortise who is to say Grimford can't be the first to perform this task?

That's the way to go. Fitting the Inletting is only part of it. It also requires matching the pan and flash hole. And also needs the lock/trigger relationship to be correct.
The L&R lock is NOT a direct replacement. It requires substantial wood removal from the lock mortise, and some filing of the plate. I know cause I did a L&R replacement of a percussion lock on a Renegade and it was quite a job to get everything right.
This was just a "What if" project because I already have the parts. I may just keep my eyes open for a T/C flint lock, or possibly make a trade with someone, My Great Plains flint lock for a T/C flint lock.

It looks like it would work, but I would have to remove some material from the hammer side of the plate.
