This is a vintage build .50 Bucks County style flintlock rifle. It has a 42.5" swamped barrel with 1:66 twist and sharp shiny bore. Has ALLEGHENY XX etched on barrel. The brass mounted Tiger Maple stock has nice figure. The forestock is shaped differently from what I know, but could be a common form. LOP is 14". Flaws that I have identified: small crack at forward lock screw. Small grain crack on right side. What appears to be a filled/repaired grain crack on right underside (see photos). This likely happened during stock forming. Appears to be a reddish epoxy, possibly Acraglas. (NOTE: The folks over on the American Longrifles forum believe this may in fact be a mineral intrusion in the grain and noted examples). All of these seem stable. One screw missing from patchbox. Still a very nice, well built rifle for the price. $900 + Shipping.
