If your TC .50 percussion has the QLA, is it worth even trying a 370gr Maxi with a .54 Oxy-yoke felt wonder wad under it?
Or basically have to cut it off or use unmentionable projectiles?

If the barrel has been counterbored correctly, the QLA should be similar to a coned barrel in that it will align the Maxi-Ball to the bore of the barrel. The only way to know is to go out and shoot it.

I've a suspicion QLA was intended to support ease of loading with Maxi type projectiles. This being said I have a QLA barrel on a flint PA Hunter Carbine which has a round ball twist. I wish it didn't have the QLA feature, I don't like it when loading PRB.
