One of my projects, put aside for now, is reworking my H & A flintlock stock. In my humble but accurate opinion it's an ugly duckling.

The one thing I really dislike is the butt is too small and narrow for the overall aesthetics, the cheek piece is almost non existent. Let's not even talk about that brass blob that doubles as a patchbox.......... Sooooooo, I'm debating buying a new stock for it but not sure which style stock would work best. It's 15/16ths across the flats and the barrel is 39 1/8" long.
Any ideas?

If you think the hardware is worth it, order a stock (I like Pecatonica). I built a rifle from used parts just to practice. $200 all-in. I got a "second" late Lancaster stock from Pecatonica. Barrel channel and ramrod hole drilled only.

Do you mean mostly carved stock or a blank with only the barrel channel and ramrod hole drilled? If it's a drilled out blank I'm not interested.
As for the parts everything I've read concerning these is the hardware is good though it looks like some of it is painted black, that can be easily corrected.

A pre-carved stock with only the barrel channel inlet and the ramrod hole drilled. No fancy striping and the only blemish that made it a second was a small spot that I assume was where a branch emanated from. Most of that was gone by the time I was done with sanding. This was 8 years ago and I paid $90.
