For sale: New day hunt Powder Horn: $ 75.00 +$8.00 shipping and handling.
She’s a beauty and crafted to look Ooooold. A 1700’s horn right out of the pages of history. This is a relatively straight horn. It can be worn on either side. The horn measures 5-1/2” across the curve from spout tip to cap base, it measures 8-1/2”around the curve from tip to cap base, so you can see that it’s fairly straight. The horn has an Oak cap stained dark brown, and a dark Brown turned Maple finial with my non-sparking brass 3/8”-16 threaded plug for easy filling. The horn is “colored” with my custom mix of dyes to give it that authentic 1700’s Fur Trapper/Mountain Man look. It’s fitted with a beautiful hand crafted 7/8” wide fully; adjustable, prime quality, leather strap with belt keeper and Nickle plated Conway buckle. The strap is dark Brown in color. Great for carrying at your next Rendezvous. This Two Feathers horn, WILL get you noticed! The horn is ideal for carrying just enough powder for a day of hunting or a woods walk, no extra weight. I haven’t checked it out, but I think it’ll hold about 1/3 of a pound of powder? That’s more than enough to hunt for the day, unless you’re a lousy shot. :+))))
The horn cap sports an Iron staple where it attaches to the strap with a nice Antique rivet. The Pour spout plug is carved White Tail antler and attached to the horn for loss prevention with a length of sinew. There is a 3/8” band of 3 oz. Brown leather wrapped around the horn tip in a carved channel. It is tightly wrapped with artificial Sinew. It is stitched to the main strap with artificial sinew. The pour spout end is rounded for easier pouring into your powder measure. The cap is attached with Copper Tacks. The whole cap is wax sealed for water resistance with an 80/20 mixture of Bees wax and paraffin.
I know there are cheaper powder horns out there, but you get what you pay for. My accoutrements are made by me; here in my NE Pennsylvania shop, from American sourced materials, not in some third world country.
I accept PayPal, certified bank checks, and postal money orders. Money orders and bank checks will add about 2 weeks to the turn around time. I ship the same day as money is received, (exceptions) Sundays and Federal Holidays. If you’re interested, please contact me here [email protected] or through the website. As always, thanks for looking.
God bless:
