It looks like you need to edit your inmage tags before posting.

There should only be the "IMAGE" tag for the fourm, not the "IMG" tag from Photobucket.

After posting you have time to edit your post when it doesn;t look right.

It will post a picture with eather Photobucket's or the Forum's image tags, as long as there is only one set...

The bottom one you have seen before, the top one is the new one. The middle one is a real early Hawken :rotf:

Enjoy,

Cooner that is just flat (bad word) beautiful! I dont know if I should try harder on my build or just give up, I'll never come up with something that fine. I think I'll go shoot the thing I'm working on if I can get some loads info on a 85 model. Q is this one you are going to sell or another? They just seem to get better and better. (Ive had 17 Es about starting another Hawken Post, people I never have seen on here since yesterday..you beat me to it.) The Hawken  one of the best yet, might even out do your frirst place one. FRED :hatsoff: Now that you gave me all this to work for... I should go back to sanding on CVAs :rotf: thanks for the above pic. FW

Hey pleaase tell me more about the early hawken in the middle you have. Nice looking stuff :hatsoff:

Cherokee, that was a wise crack referring to a joke another fella posted on the Hawken part II thread. Seriously....the gun in the middle is a Hudson Valley fowler like the kind they used to build in New York City. :hmm: I wonder if they still build cool guns in NYC along the Hudson? Anyway, it has been customized to sport a bayonet and sling for the military use sometime during the Rev. War.

Thanks for the editing help Musketman and the tutorial. It looks much better now.

Don-
That is one special rifle! Perfect fit and finish and great attention to detail (especially the case hardened lock plate). It must be just the way a special order, high-end Hawken came out of the shop. (I think I'll just burn the Gemmer Hawken I'm working on now, although I could keep it as an example of the apprentice's first gun. :( )

Clay

Yes, Cooner, that is a beautiful job. Specs. please.

You make it hard for a guy to catch up ! You should of seen faces at UPS store when I rolled in wanting to put the stock on copy mch! :rotf: send them out Tuesday. I may just get a full stock and start over on this one. Fred :hatsoff:

It's a .54 cal. rifle barrel by Green Mountain and is 38" long with a Ron Long lock by Davis. The hardware is all from TOTW. I haven't shot it yet so the front blade is way high. Late 1840's early 1850's styling. Good for heading to Oregon with or Santa Fe and Taos.
Don

Cooner okay,
I saw the full stock and the flintlock and thought you had built a fullstock hawken I didnt look any closer than that.

Thanky

Okay Don, you got me all aroused with the pictures of those rifles. Now I've got to go and take a cold shower! :rotf: Seriously, they're beautiful!! So you built those yourself?

Both of the Hawkens I built. The musket in the middle was built by Alan Gutchess. Dutch furniture Hudson Valley type fowler. 1760's or so.
Alan used to work at the shop in Colonial Williamsburg years ago. Does great work.

Thanks Davy, that really brightened them up. I'm gonna have to get that photoshop stuff in my computer. And then learn how to use it.

Use MS Paint & Google's free download program named Picasa. No cost other than time spent learning it!

Davy

That will confuse some with the Hawkens at the top and the musket no longer in the middle but now at the bottom. Davy, your messin' with Oklahoma!!! :shocked2:
