I went into a remnant shop armed with my BIC. lighter and asked if I could try a burn test on a small piece if pillow ticking ?and to my amazement she said yes? and it was the real deal. and she made a sale! why buy it and get home and have a worthless piece of CLOTH??

Since you only need a couple thread samples from the warp and the weft, a small pair of scissors (& shop OK) to collect them, can get over objections to setting their stock on fire.

I would respectfully suggest measuring the thickness only after washing out the sizing...….
