Has any one used one of these ? What is the quality like ?COULD THEY BE MADE TO SHOOT STRAIGHT ( in the context of smoothbore ,no sights ) I have a percussion pistol that is used for serious target work and this one would be used in the not quite so formal matches etc.

IMO, they are a neat looking pistol but without sights it's hard to shoot very accurately.
The barrel has a lot of taper to it and even using the enlarged Cannon ring at the muzzle as a reference won't help much.

As it comes from the factory, it will have quite a few missfires. These are due to the very small, very long touch hole.
Even enlarging it to 5/64 (.078) diameter doesn't really improve the reliability.

Greatly enlarging the touch hole by using a tap drill for a #10-32 thread and building a vent liner with a #10-32 screw will fix it so it will fire almost instantly.

I had one awhile back...and ZONIE touched all the important items that need to be discussed...
Mine had the nice crisp lock and trigger pull...
~ ~ seems like all the pedersoli locks that I own are very nice ~ ~ ~
IMHO its a nice choice.

I owned a pair of them back in the 80s. Mine were good guns as far as ignition, neither ever failed in that respect. The biggest negative for me was the lack of sights. They were a close up firearm if you wanted to print on paper. After a couple of years, the novelty wore off and I sold them.

The upside of the smoothbore was the ability to load them with shot. They did make a great close range "snake charmer."

It depends on how you define straight.

I like shooting mine,(I find that loading it with a piece of wire in the touchhole improves ignition reliability) however, at more than ten yards, even getting mine on paper is a gamble. I usually end up shooting very low, but that is probably a personality quirk.
