I am in the process of doing a Hawken using T/C
components and a pecatonica stock. Has anyone done the same and what did you use for the butt plate as the two stocks are different animals.
I was thinking of doing the curved butt and then making a piece of brass for a plate.
Or does a butt plate exist that can be applied to the project.
    Thanks for any imput.

I'm sort of doing the same thing. I had my Pecatonica Hawken replacement stock shaped for a true Hawkin buttplate, rather than the T/C version. I've been looking for that buttplate and can't find it. I'm starting to panick.

I don't see that there should be any issues with your build as long as nothing has been significantly altered.

Search eBay for Hawken stock. There's a geargeous one listed now made of curly maple and fitted with T/C forniture.

    Hey Kansas,
Yeah this is the most daunting part of the task. TOTW P/N BP-TC-H-B is the same size as the stock T/C buttplate but they are out.
I forgot to take in consideration that the stock has to be shortened almost to the length of the plate leaving room for wood removal.
Looks like templates and some mechanical drawing is in order.
    Good luck.

Right now the fancy T/C stock is priced at $495, with three days to go. Look for Thompson Center Hawken black powder stock

Steel replacement parts for a Hawken are much easier to find than brass, which seems to be only availble on the auction sights, and eBay particularly. I think if one wanted to put his T/C hardware into a fancy stock more like a true mountain rifle of the past he ought to go with steel fittings.

I have the parts of my fancy Hawken project spread out in front of me. It will be full stocked.

Years ago, when I could spend more freely, I bought a fancy Cabela's stock on ebay. It had an exceptionally nice wood, and all metal was fully engraved. It wasn't cheap. If you want to make easy money just fancify a Hawken stock and put it up on ebay.
