    A question for you folks.

Does this link to one of my pictures work?
Will it open and if it does, do you see the picture of a replica Whitney and a Spiller & Burr cap and ball revolver.

It is using the Photobucket "share" > "Direct" address for the picture.

Try opening it in another window or tab.

Posting a link like this to Photobucket has always worked.

The only thing that's changed is you can't display the image in your post. They want you to go to their site so you can be subjected to advertising and also generate hits for their site, which looks good to their advertisers.

    Thanks.

Yes, I knew they want to generate hits to bolster their number of hits to generate ad's.

I have too many pictures there to move them to another site easily and, for the moment, the photos I've posted directly on a number if web sites are still working so, I was looking for another way to link the pictures to my posts without adding to the number of "3rd party" links I currently have.

I had set up my PB account with my photos in a "private" rather than a "public" account.
That is the reason for my test. I wasn't sure that using the "link method" would allow people other than me to see them.

Like you Zonie, I have lot of pics on PB. They can stay there as long as PB lets me and I can always transfer some to another site.

Pics I had posted here on the MLF (3rd party hosted) are no longer visible though. I'm not gonna pay the amount PB is asking for that service.

It looks as if IMGUR allows 3rd party hosting, at least from my desktop.

Flickr works too but the only process I've found to make it work is kind of a PITA.

I use tinypic.com and so far no problems. I just checked one of my old threads and my pictures are still there. However some pictures that others added show the PB emblem and says upgrade your account instead of the picture.
