As usual we're trying to generalize about chemistry when none of us are experts.
I agree there could be residues in the fabric.
But the fabric is also pre-shrunk.
The weave may never be as tight as when it's purchased.
It's only something to consider when deciding whether to wash it or not after purchase.
Some folks wash it and some folks don't.
The discussion is intended to expand people's understanding about why they do things.
It's not about a right or wrong way, it's that there's more than one way and to understand the options and the reasons for them.
