Testing my reworked ( Originally was 2fa Artillery powder ) 3fg powder today. 50 yards with my Traditions Hawken Woodsman .50cal. 70gr 3fg, .020 patches and .490 round ball.

Happy? You can't wipe the smile off my face!

4fg Gearhart Owen in the pan. Instant ignition.

Its been a long while since I last shot the flinter. Mostly because my powder supply is always down. Shouldn't be an issue for a while!

Thumbs up!

That's a good way to be! Great grouping too!

My point was satirical; that most mortals can't shoot that tight of a group beyond bean bag tossing range, and not with normal eyes, and solid resting, and even at that, I would still need a goodly dose of luck.

15/20 vision. Just had my contacts updated 😁 it's not the first group ive shot that were 3 touching, just the first time for this rifle now that I had time to work with it more.

Wow! How tight is that load going down the barrel? I've tried .18 patch with .490 round ball and it loads hard but groups fairly well. A .10 patch is easier for me to load but the group opens a bit.

Outstanding! That is some great shooting! Looks like you found the right combination for your flinter. Now it's time to put some meat in the pot. :ghostly:
Do you know what twist your barrel is? I load all of my muzzleloaders with a pretty tight ball/patch combo. My target flintlock has a .54 Cal Ed Rayl barrel and I load a .545 ball and .015 patch. I use a rubber mallet to start the ball/patch combo. It will produce great groups if I do my part.
Good job.

Mike
