I believe this is referred to as the French IX Military pistol circa late 1700s early 1800s, Aka French Revolution Period. The pistol remains in remarkable condition and the action seems to work fine. I am not suggesting that this pistol should be shot but I would think it could be if desired. It shows the marks and patina of a 200 plus year old pistol but has been well cared for and remains in what I would describe as very good condition. There does not appear to be any alteration or cleaning done to the pistol. Please look at the photos, ask questions, I will do my best to answer. $1250 shipped in the lower 48. Please pm with questions, etc.

Nice piece. The Manufacture de Paris was only in business a short period shortly after the Reign of Terror, 1793-96 if I remember correctly. The arsenal was opened for the Republic when other arsenals were captured. After St Etienne was captured (they snuck equipment and personnel out before) they opened shop in Paris. The Manufacture de Paris did not make complete guns. I believe they only made locks and did repair work. This pistol is a French model 1766 (the IX has a round-faced lock) and likely all but the lock is 1760s era. Great piece of history.

Thank you for the information, I had this previously marked as a 1760s French, American Revolution era period pistol. Several said that was incorrect and that the pistol was from a later French Rev period. I appreciate your attention to the details and will change my description based on your information combined with my research. Thanks again for clearing this up with some facts.

As stated above this is a earlier period 1760s French pistol and not a IX as previously listed. Once again a part of history for sale at the price of a good reproduction.
