I have a 38 waist and a 34 inseam, but I’m looking for some old leathers that I can cut the legs off and turn into leggings for my son and me. He is a bit taller and narrower at the moment (that little turd).

If you want to give your old leathers some new life, let me know.

Fair travels!

Dont get caught in the rain, they become very heavy.
Out here no one wears leather, too hot in the summer, too heavy in the rest of the year

I know. But they do look good!

I can/have make wool ones, but I’m not as handy with leather. And the thing about old leather is they are already dirty and lived in looking.

Not sure where you are in the PNW, but they are quite common in our group out of Kirkland, and oddly enough, at every event or AMM camp I have been at. Wool is nice here, but it gets shredded in the forests, and rots faster than brain tanned leather. We all hunt like its 1830....Where you make your fire at?

When I saw mention of "old leather britches" I thought someone was referring to my first wife! :) (Just joking!)

Leather britches also refers to dried green bean pods. A staple food during the early part of the 18th -20th century in the mountains of WNC. My family has made them for generations just for the hard times.

We made them every year too. Had nothing to do with hard times. It was just mine & my Grampaw's favorite way to eat green beans. Cooked up with some country ham or smoked ham hocks & it just don't get no better.
