I use a spot of Aeroshell 64/33 MS on my breech plugs and Percussion nipples. A tiny jar has lasted me years and I’ve only used 15% of the jar. Its a milspec high temp grease, high adhesion/bond strength lubricant. If i remember right it was developed for black gun barrel nuts. Super stuff.

I pull my nipples after every shoot when cleaning my guns and for 30+ years have just applied a very thin coat of Bore Butter to the threads. There have been times when the guns have set for long periods of time, never had a problem.

I use Bore Butter. I tried oil 1 time and the nipples were hard to get out. Not so with the Bore Butter.
