Thank you. Well put. Seems common sense is uncommon these days. And stupid is in the water… but people drink it anyways!
Yep, it amazes me many times just how many bag of hammers live in this world.

Here’s my beaver cap… I think it’s lined with elk or heavy deer skin..
Plenty warm for those frigid Tennessee winters…lol

I use the beaver pelt as a hand warmer,.. Simply roll with fur to the inside. Then I take a leather thong , run it thru the eye holes and tie around the wrap too secure it.

I attach it too my waist with a sash or belt running thru the roll.
Easy access for your hands when worn on the outside of a coat, capote or frock..
it is a great hat. what does it eat? look's to be eating out of a bowl. LOL!!

So begs the question: is this something that would have actually been seen during the fur trade? This style is referred to as Russian ushanka, and the free trapper style with a brim seems more prevalent on re-enactors or in artwork. Share your knowledge please, inquiring minds want to know!

I have a rabbit one (quilted liner) my wife bought me 30 years ago, I rarely wore it back east and have yet to wear it since moving to the desert southwest. It just doesn't get cold enough.
