Hey all..

Thought you might be interested in a couple pics from the New Ulm Light Battery shoot this summer.

These pics are of a ww2 french cannon with the breach sealed and made to replicate an older revoloutionary type (if i remember correctly).. Not sure who the guys were but maybe some of you who get arround might recognize them.

Quite the shooter they were 163 yards out and shot 2 shots into each bull. Some looke like misses.. But upon close inspection of targets, there were 10 hits, 2 in each. Some so close you can barely tell.. Amazing acuracy.

This of course is a rifled barrel not like the originals that were smooth. And actually a couple of them competed rather well too.

Was a great weekend... Lots of Musket shoots etc. Along with these cannons and a mortar competion.

Was a first for me and had a great time!
Highly recomend checking them out.

Actually it looks to be a replaca of a civil war style Parrot Rifle. The original would have been rifled but probably very differently than the ww II barrel. It seems like I read some where that they were rifled with only three groves but I'm not sure if that is correct.

hey donk,

I believe you are right if i remember what the boys were talk'in about up there, 3 grooves.

This one was 5 or 6 groves, but you know how it goes. I was just a spectator.. in the way, asking a few questions when i had the chance and listening in. All with my ear plugs in... :haha:

Some of them were dressed pc. Either way it was fun had by all.
