Sicilian Hunter
32 Cal.
Hello!!
I've recently moved from NM to TX and although at the moment, I live outside of Austin, we plan on moving east of the city in the near future.
I still belong to the NM Mountain Men but I am looking for more local guys to hunt, fish and trek with a little closer to home.
I have two canoes and I am conjuring a future Period float trek and looking for some ADVENTUROUS souls interested in testing themselves and their kits.
So far I have been scouting the San Gabriel river where it meets Grainger lake.
My idea is set up a station camp there consisting of a half-faced structure with something of an elevated floor to be up off the ground and any unwanted "visitors".
That particular county allows for squirrel hunting all year round and the waters are loaded with fish.
A little background: the period that I emulate is roughly 1765-75 of a woodsman who is hunting deer for hides and scouting land to farm.
I am currently learning period fishing methods and techniques, I LOVE hunting squirrels and other small game, I want to practice some period trapping at some point but my major hurdle with all of these activities is WHERE to go?!
Right now I'm just sending out some smoke signals to those in TX to see if there anybody interested in getting out into the forest and practicing the Craft.
