I was doing some spring cleaning and found this in the back of my workbench. Don't think I ever shared it so here goes. This was one of my failures when building a so called Penny Knife a few years back. It started out as a new knife until the handle split when I was peening the pivot pin. Probably could have fixed it but my Finnish blood got the better of me and instead it found its saing into a conveniently placed brick wall. The next day (after a some quiet contemplation) I decided to see what I could do with it. The brick had done some damage so I decided on a complete antiquing. The crack was stabilized and a variety of methods were used to age both wood and metal and create some patina. The handle was carved purposely crude to appear like something that might have been done over the campfire. Anyway there it is, be careful when buying something you assume is old.
