Hello all,
Glad to be a new member to the forum...I'm a American history buff (early colonial through WWII). I've put together two TOTW French Tulle Fusil kits in the past (~ 20 years ago), and currently have an order in on putting together a Chambers New England Colonial Fowler in .12 gauge smoothbore. I have their upper grade of curly maple stock ordered, and would like to create a more "chocolate brown" finish. I would appreciate any insights/experiences you may have had with putting together the Chambers kit/darker "chocolate brown" staining applications, along with FFg loads for shot and round ball, etc.
Regards to all...

Welcome aboard! The hunt for that perfect finish is something we all enjoy. Just when you think you got it right, the next stock says "not this time, fella". Each is so unique. You could try out your ideas inside the barrel channel before doing the visible areas.

Shinin' times indeed...thanks for everyone's kind words of support...I've got a Chambers New England colonial fowler on order - I will welcome all input as I post my progress...
