Hello from New Hampshire

50 years ago I built a Pennsylvania long rifle in my dormitory room while at school. Its been my favorite hunting rifle ever since. But, for some reason, I have a strong desire to build another at this stage of my life. So tomorrow I’m picking up a 50. Cal Green Mountain barrel to begin the process. I’ll be looking for a stock blank, lock, and the rest as time goes along. I’m hoping this forum will be helpful during my build process!

Welcome aboard!

Please consider getting a 'swamped' barrel, if you haven't already purchased one. I also prefer the 54s (realizing you've done well with the 50!) as they are a good 1/2-pound lighter than a 50-cal in the same barrel size.

Also check out the kits by Kibler Longrifles and Jim Chambers ... you might end up making a really nice heirloom piece!

Welcome from Montana. Moved here from Durham 7 years ago. Enjoy working on your rifle.
