Generally I never stray from the universal solvent (water) when it comes to cleaning my ML's but after my most recent shooting trip I decided to try something new. The product in question is called "Totally Awesome" and is available in a one gallon jug at the dollar store... For the sum of one dollar. Had mine in a spray bottle, cut 50/50 with water. Sprayed the lock and was astonished when the thick fouling disappeared with zero scrubbing! Sprayed it down the bore, and ran a swab soaked in the stuff back and forth a few times. Dried and oiled as normal. My gun was squeaky clean in no time and with less effort than plain water. Worth a try folks!

Ive seen it. I never dared use it on my ML because I was afraid it would have some corrosive in it.

That said, if you have what I saw, here is the MSDS on it. Seems pretty benign:

It's found in the house cleaning section. Stuff I got is the general purpose cleaner and is yellow.

\Yep. Thats what I saw, and used on other things. The MSDS I posted is good for it if anyone is curious. Having read that, I wouldnt worry about using it on my ML if I was looking, but for now I have what I need

Yep - got all I need for cleaners for now. Been using water with a few drops of dish detergent on my cap & balls, smoothbores & rifles for 50 years now. I get the dish detergent at the 99¢ Store & 1 bottle lasts nearly forever.

I tried this stuff this weekend and last week on a couple revolvers and it cuts right thru fouling.Wife has been using this stuff for years around the house.Never gave it a thought for firearms.Works great.

Did you by chance see if this hurt the finish on any of the wood? Did you get any on the wood of the rifle and if so what did it do?
