I recently got a 28” 1:48 twist Investarms barrel off of eBay - it was from a Bridger kit gun that never got put together. It was in the white and unfired.

The tang hook and snail are the same as the one on my GPR, but of course there was only one barrel lug, so I fabricated the ones I needed from 3/8” bar stock and soldered them in place.

Also had to cut a new rear dovetail and installed a semi buckhorn sight from L&R. The barrel was drilled and tapped, but I don’t like that style of sight. Also added a nickel silver front sight, and a ramrod for a shorter Pedersoli rifle from TOW. Blued everything with 44/40.

Now I just need to go shoot and develop a load for it.

Fun stuff!

Nice Job! I recently did a similar re-barrel taking off the invest arms barrel and putting on a Rice 1/70 twist barrel. I'm very happy with the barrel. Let us know how this one shoots.

You do some nice work there. I like it.

Now that I have seen that one, I'm considering removing the buckhorn sight from my GPR and setting on top of the barrel but closer to the breech. Perhaps I can get a good sight picture with my less than ideal old eyes that way. If so, then it certainly could be an option. Struggling with the buckhorn sight on my GPR as is.

Thanks everyone for the kind words! It came out just how I wanted, and I actually prefer this setup to the longer original barrel.

With a round ball, it is incredibly accurate - the attached picture is two shots at 100 yards. I was shocked honestly. Looking forward to trying some conicals through it, just need to order a mold.

I am in the process of building up another with a stock from Pecatonica and a Colerain barrel, and the sights will be the same as this setup - it’s just perfect.

Thanks again!
