Can anyone tell me the year this rifle was made?
What type rifle is it? I was told Ohio or Pennsylvania type?
I believe started it’s life as a flintlock and changed to percussion lock.
I’d also like to know the caliber?
Sorry for all the questions, I can imagine back in the day it was a nice rifle. The trigger guard is somewhat fancy and the stock again fancy with the brass butt plate and it has a cheek rest.
Thank you

It appears to be a mid-19th Century gun quite possibly from PA or OH. It does not look like it was converted from a flintlock.

As for the caliber you'll need to measure it with calipers or a pin gauge set. You can't tell by comparing it to a dime. However, given that the diameter of a dime is .705", it appears to be in the .45 - 50 range. Calibers weren't standardized in civilian guns during the 19th Century the same way they are now, so for it could be a .42 or a .48, for example.

I agree with a mid-19th century for the rifle. It has some features that are characteristic of SMRs and that's as far as I can guess.

I found that the lock maker is Riddle. I’m also attaching a couple more pictures. I figure the rifle is 1840’s?
Also has anyone ever seen the brass inlay on the top tang that attaches to the stock?
