I've seen several photographs of the sculpture by Frank and Lally House "Nechasin"

I'm curious about his firearm. It looks like a smoothbore but the buttstock has a sliding patchbox and a flat toe as opposed to a rounded toe of a typical fowler or trade gun. It has what appears to be a fowler trigger guard

Does anyone have any information on it!

I really dig the lines of it!

Thanks for any info!

Actually the gun has all the characteristics of a rifle, flat toe, octagon barrel, trigger guard, patch box, butt plate, cheek piece, etc. are all characteristics of a rifle. It just happens to have a smoothbored barrel which would make it what's known as a smooth rifle.

I read that article but that is not the firearm in the sculpture. Look close and you will see the differences. At least my eye sees them differently.
