I agree it looks like the ones I bought from Dixie in the seventies. It looks like an Italian made lock sold by Dixie Gun Works. If I recall correctly, they stopped selling them in the 1990's.
It's a modern lock. Designed as a generic replacement or for a custom build. There are no tapped installment holes made in the plate that would indicate a specific placement for brand or replacement for an existing lock in any previuos cap lock firearm. It's simply a basic "cap lock" rifle lock mechanism.Ok now really confused.
No lottery by any means, Salvaging the possessions of close friend to assist his surviving family is an unpleasant task. I only wanted to describe it correctly to avoid problems down the road. Am now really unsure of it and will have it listed as an unknown lock. It's a modern lock. Designed as a generic replacement or for a custom build. Sorry, you didn't hit the lottery,,
Anymore questions?
Listing as unknown/new/unused is a good idea. You should know that helping like that is a priceless thing to do,, they know as well as you, that the helping part is what matters,, not the money.
