These three flintlocks were stolen when my house was broken into December 6th 2018. I imagine the thief sold them quickly but it is the kind of thing that will eventually show back up. If you all can keep an eye out. The police report is on file with the Alleghany County Sheriff's office so if you see them at a show please call the police, your local and mine (540-965-1771). My real name is Sam Hale which I am sure they will need to know. They may never come out of private collections but never hurts to put it out there. First one is a French model 1733 with a British lock (period done), second is a small travel pistol, and third is a fancy early 1700s flintlock pistol.

I go to a lot of gun shows and I'm in PA, I'll keep a look out.

Since muzzleloaders require no FFL and are off "the radar " these could have been hocked at any antique shop , pawn shop etc. I've seen people selling muzzleloaders at flea markets.

Did you ask the officers taking the report if the guns could/would be listed in the NCIC database?
Usually a manufacture and a serial number is required.

We recovered a shotgun from a drug raid and ran the SN, it had been stolen in the 1970s.
I called the reporting PD, got a owner phone number and called. The original owner had passed but the son was happy to come claim what had been a family heirloom.

Usually a defective handles that part, but I had done the running down of the family so the Lt. let me meet the family and release the weapon.

Kinda a big deal to me, as a shooter and understanding family heirlooms.

Anyone can put a serial number on a firearm that doesn't have one...I strongly recommend it.

Good luck, keep checking the pawn shops.

Sad thing is, outside of us afficianados, no one is likely to pay much for one. Probably sold for a pittance, hope they return to you. I hate a thief.
