That is, indeed, a very beautiful rifle that has some real age in it, notwithstanding that it is a modern build of the very best of American gunmaking. I envy you greatly, and wish you well with the shooting of it. I'd like to think that you might make a short Youtube movie for us to see and further admirify it.

Saw mention here today about Fremont muskets, cut-down M1842 perc. guns. There must be one on line for sale at some point. I was interested to learn they cut down some for the Fremont exploration, am looking for book on same at my library, the expedition that is. I have a 3-band rifled M42, but would love to handle the 2-bander! Thanks. They are just plain handsome, as muskets go.

Guys, here are some photos of the rifle:

The builder was Mike Compton who occasionally builds and sells rifles with Track of the Wolf. It is just gorgeous!! Extremely well put together Ohio-style halfstock!! Balance and handling are excellent, weighs less than 6 1/2 lbs with just enough hang that it should be great for offhand yet not so heavy as to become a chore. I am super excited to shoot it on Sunday once my supplies come in.

Stay tuned for a range report! :)
