Thinning the fore stock based on some information about how these were "egg shell" thin on originals @dave_person has examined. I'm not going to go quite that thin but I did take quite a lot more off the sides and will roll the top edge into the barrel. Dave if you're reading this thank you!

What color are you giving her??
For the stock I haven't decided for sure but I'll do some experimenting with Tannic Acid, Iron Nitrate and something like LMF Maple to add some warm tones. I'll be using Chambers traditional oil finish. For the metal I'm going to do a French Grey antiqued rubbed back finish.

Dose the French gray antique fishing look like this?

The last piece of hardware is on!
I soldered the sight on this morning.

Made a center mark by laying the barrel on a flat surface, leveling it. With a piece of sandpaper make a mark on top of the barrel.

Tin the bottom of the sight.

Clamp the sight on and heat it with a propane torch.

I just need to clean up the metal.
