Bag that is in progress to go with a .54 Virginia rifle Michael Davis is building for me. The main body is 3 1/2 ounce oak tanned cowhide and the front rolled edge is elk hide. Rolled welts on the gusset that extends the full length of the body. Overall size is about 9" tall x 9 1/2" wide with a double pocket inside on the back. The main color is black with golden brown flap and back accent. Treated with a 50/50 mix of bees wax and neatsfoot oil. The strap goes from 1 1/2" to 1" wide, 5 ounce oak tanned cowhide with an aged brass buckle.

Your edging/binding and stitching are really looking good.

Curiosity leads me to ask what the inspiration was for the ends of the bag straps that connect to the bag?

Just something that looks different... I saw something similar on a horn strap and leggings set. I flipped the points then modified them a little.

An absolutely handsome set with great workmanship. One of the great things about this ml avocation/passion is the way it is reviving craftsmanship for making things. We have many great rifle builders out there. Some may make only a couple in a lifetime but they are contributing to the preservation of history.
As, you, sir, are as well.

What more praise can be said that has not already been stated - you sir are a craftsman & an artist thanks for sharing  .
