Yeah, well .... if you've got talent and patience, you can make some really beautiful horns! All mine are pretty utilitarian. I made my first in High School and throughout the years it was attacked by beetle larvae & chewed up - I still need to fill all the little holes & refinish it. Meanwhile, I needed another horn in a hurry, so I got one of those $5 horns from Amazon. Did some filing & shaping & it looks more like an actual horn now, but still isn't anything I'd sign my name to.

The fiddle peg stopper, threaded brass filler and leather thong all cost more than the original horn.
