Lyman GPR 50cal is from 1991. I bought it used and installed Lyman front bead and Lyman 37ML sight. The original sights will also go with it.
I do not think it had been fired much if at all when I got it. The bore is really bright. No pitting. There is some minor pitting on the exterior of the muzzle at crown, likely due to poor storage by previous own? I can only guess what it’s from. Maybe from powder burn that was not properly cleaned. There is some light pitting near the nipple as well. Other than these 2 spots, the metal finish shows some ware. The wood is great. The bore was a patch cutter and took some time for it to smooth out. It has now calmed down and started shooting really tight groups. I took a doe with it last year.
The factory ramrod had some runout and snapped, so I replaced it with a TOW brown fiber rod. The issue here is that the new rod is thinner than the original, and since this rifle was pre-rod retention spring, it will slide out without the leather lace areound the barrel. It would be easy to replace with a thicker hickory rod, I just haven’t done it since the leather works fine.
I’m looking to trade for a 54 or 58 cal RB twist OR a fast twist 50cal.
I really like this rifle, but I have too many 50cals with slower twists that don’t shoot conicals with the degree of accuracy that I expect, and a 45. I would like something more appropriate for elk sized game. Unfortunately, I don’t have a good way to photograph the bore. My only bore light is one of those flexible designs that lights from the muzzle.

He has gone awol. I have been trying to contact him about another rifle he is /was selling. Hoping all is ok for him. Went off the radar a little over 2 weeks ago. Same w pm's. He strikes me as legit so it seems a bit weird. SW
Tall Tim is doing this on pretty much every for sale item. It doesn't pass the smell test if you get my meaning.
I also searched USPhoneBook and the number came back as not a valid US phone number.
