Hi,

A few months ago I finished my first attempt at making a reproduction Hewes and Phillips conversion of an M1840 flintlock by using an Armisport/Chiappa M1842 as the basis. Since the M1840 is almost identical to the M1842 it was relatively easy. The only needed new parts are a lockplate, breech, and stock (I modified the M1840 stock by splicing in some wood behind the lock mortise to account for the pointy tail of the M1840 lock plate).

This would be a no-brainer for Chiappa/Armisport to manufacture. It uses 99% of the existing M1842 parts. I'm willing to provide my CAD data for CNC machining the breech as well as use my prototype.

I have been trying to contact Chiappa USA but no one will return my calls.

Does anyone have a contact at Chiappa that will listen to me?

Thanks,
Steve
